Kevin Leahy in an article in Current Archaeology (210) about Cleatham one of Britain's biggest Anglo-Saxon cemeteries:

He was explained the presence of four pots in the roman tradition, but unlike any known Roman pots suggested the techniques continued for a while into the 5th Century after the mass-produced industry closed down.
