They say of me: according to Babelfish translation:

But especially emotional became the mobile lectures, the architectural surveys in London (in the historical blocks and ultramodern To siti), by authors of which appeared well-known specialists in the region of contemporary architectural practice in London (in the new territories and under reconstruction conditions). This Kevin Flude - the professor of the London central institute- college of skills and design of holy Martin, Thomas Nugent - important specialist- practitioner, the active member of the royal institute of British architects (RIBA).

For the group of the teachers of architectural department SFU the trip to London (at the end of 2007) became the first. Therefore tasks were set extensive - become acquainted with the system of organization and the procedure of architectural formation in England, attempt to fix business connections with the British architectural schools and personally by associates with architect- teachers, see in reality the result of the historical and contemporary process of architectural activity in London - one of the municipal- leaders of world architecture.

Special feature became the fact that in the group were gathered different specialists - architects, artists, art critics - 8 teachers from three basic departments of architectural department ("town buildings", "bases of architectural design" and "figure, painting and sculpture"). The overall professional interest united all us: architectural formation. In this case each of the teachers wanted to find answers to its own questions for itself, to solve their professional tasks.

As it wanted, trip came out on the business of successful. And to the highest degree of the emotional (you look photo-report on the site SFU).

The objects of our attention became four leading architectural schools of London, acknowledged the European and world leaders of the architectural formation:

  • Architectural school Bartlett the university of central London (Bartlett School of Architecture, University of Central London, UCL);
  • London central institute- college of skills and design of holy Martin (The London Institute Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design School of Graphic and Industrial Design);
  • School of architecture and visual skills of the university of East London (School of Architecture and the Visual Arts, University of East London);
  • Royal institute of British architects (Royal Institute of British Architects, RIBA).

We, teachers from distant Siberia, became acquainted with organization and content of formation in these educational institutions. Business meetings took place, systematic and scientific seminars with the leaders it was course and workshops, with the chief professors Christtine Hawley and C J Lim, Jonathan Barratt, Tricia Austin and Christine Atha, Signy Svalastoga; by the noted for theorist doctor of architecture Aleksandr rappaport (Pushkin House). The mutual ideas of educational programs were organized. Englishmen struck the high quality of "rukodel'nykh", executed in the traditional academic drawing of watercolor "washing", course student projects, brought from Siberia. We showed rich footnote about architecture and nature of Siberia. Our British associates appeared great interest in the original Siberian architecture, the contemporary urban and natural landscape.

Saturated by diverse events came out the visit of Oxford.

Significant differences in our countries not only in the culture, but also in the approaches to organization and content of architectural formation, possibly, became the reason for mutual interest of both sides (us and of Englishmen) in continuation and deepening of connections. So already in this year three our associates from London will arrive in SFU as the visit- professors. Thomas Nugent Is invited in SFU for predsedatel'stvovaniya in the state certification commission for specialty "architecture". Here he will also read the course of lectures about the very contemporary trends in the architecture of Great Britain. Professor Tricia Austin it is invited for reading of lectures on the theme: The "kreativnye practice of architecture and design in the urban environment". Kevin Flude Will be conducted for our students course "the contemporary problems of the town-building and architectural reconstruction of the largest historical Europe it is municipal".

And still. The agreed terms with the college of central London (City of London School) about the familiarizing exchange of students during their summer and winter vacations. The first group of 20 of our students will go to 2 weeks to London already during July 2008. We will assume the students of architectural-artistic workshops from the college of central London in our during first days of 2009.

Thus, the first trip of our teachers to London - is behind. Is in front - work in SFU and new plans. It is important so that this trip- practice period of our teachers would not prove to be only, single. It is necessary to soblyudat' the proclaimed at the level of the highest leaders of state principle of continuity in the contemporary formation (but it means, a constant stay in the professional tone, which is very important for the instructors of higher school). Teachers are assured, this will give fruits. World practice in the region of formation in the architecture and the design includes required practice periods in the different countries of both the students and the instructors. This, it goes without saying, it helps the specialists of the individual country to be included in international professional space, to study advanced experience, to be located on the foremost positions. To this quality pretends our university.
