Mr Johnson, a 90 year old farm hand living in his grandfather's slave cabin said to Lonnie Bunch, president of the Chicago Historical Society that

'There are few things more powerful than a people who remember their history. Especially if a museum can help them remember not just what they want [to remember] but also what they want to forget'
